Automotive Window Tinting film protects both you and your car from the damaging effects of the sun.
With the ever-increasing breakdown of our ozone layer, dermatologists warn against overexposure to the sun.
Polarized sunglasses protect the eyes, sunblock protects the skin, and window film protects the interior of your car.

What is window tint?
Window tint is a thin film or laminate that can be installed on the interior of glass surfaces in automobiles, boats, homes, and commercial buildings. The tint film is usually made from polyester due to its clarity, tensile strength, dimensional stability; and ability to accept a variety of surface-applied or embedded treatments.
Window film can be generically described by the components it contains for performance and/or aesthetics; i.e. dyed, metalized, carbon, ceramic & nano-ceramic – or by its intended use. Uses can be roughly divided into automotive/marine where surfaces are often curved, and architectural where flat glass is normal. Window film is usually applied by professional service companies but there are also D.I.Y. kits available.
The International Window Film Association, founded in 1991, provides unbranded information about window films.
Uses
There are many different grades, shades, colors, and thicknesses of available window films built to offer solutions to a variety of solution-based reasons. Window films are a retrofit upgrade for existing glass that can be used to address problems inherent to glazing, including:
-
IR Heat and glare reduction
-
Thermal insulation
-
UV filtration
-
Safety and security
-
Privacy
-
Decoration, Signage, and branding
-
Protection from graffiti
Window films are an extremely cost-effective method to reduce heating and cooling costs in existing buildings by reducing the amount of heat transfer through glazing.
Why should I choose one kind of automotive window tinting over the other?
It really depends on the benefits and features you’re looking for and the performance difference in the different types of film.
I normally would not recommend a cheap Dyed film. Many Dyed films will fade and lose its color over time.
Carbon films are a step up in quality from Dyed and will not fade but also bill not block out much IR Heat either.
Carbon Ceramic film is the next level up and will block out a lot of IR Heat, up to 88%.
The highest performing film on the market is the Nano Premium Ceramic films with the most IR Heat rejection, up to 98%.
How long does it take to have automotive window tinting installed?
It depends on the type of vehicle you have, how many windows it has, and what kind of film you want.
But… Typically, a tint job on a four-door sedan takes about 2 to 4 hours, but you should expect to leave your vehicle for most of the day to allow for cleanup and unforeseen challenges that may pop up.
